A Budget-Friendly Trip to Beavers Bend

You hear luxury cabins and once-in-a-lifetime views and we know you immediately think, “shoot, that sounds expensive.” Well, like a lot of things people assume about Southeastern Oklahoma, it’s a total misconception. Because you can have a whale of a time in Cabin Country that won’t take even a guppy-sized bite out of your pocket book.

So let’s take a look at the best tips and tricks on how to ball on a budget on your next trip to Beavers Bend Cabin Country. Don’t worry, no fun was sacrificed in the creation of this blog.

Cabins That Were Made for Sharing

There’s a reason these cabins are big: they’re meant to fit the whole crew. So no matter who you’re traveling with – whether pals or parentals – they’ll have all the room their hearts could desire at a price that’ll ease their minds. So you can split one and still spoil yourselves at the same time.

And after you check in, you can keep that vacay bill on the lower side by taking advantage of the big kitchen that comes standard in most cabins. Show off those chef skills and organize a good old fashioned potluck while you watch the nature go by around you.

Take a Hike

Getting those steps in never looked so good or cost so little. Any time of year is a good time to hit the trails in Beavers Bend State Park and see some sights and maybe a bird or two. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker with killer calves or a greenhorn just trying to break in a new pair of boots, you’re bound to find a path that suits you and your wallet. And if you decide to park at the park, a day pass won’t break the bank.

Affordable and Free Flights

Legally, we can’t call ourselves the sampling capital of the world. (Thanks, Costco.) But when you get here already, it doesn’t take much to find some pretty fantastic wine and beer flights. You can start your tasting tour at the Wild Horse Winery for “small” pours at smaller prices that pair great with outdoor views and good conversation. And for a big bang for your buck – or lack there of – be sure to stop by Girls Gone Wine. They offer a free tasting menu, geared to your palate. Whether you’re a sweet fan or a dry connoisseur, you’re bound to find a fun wine to fit your preference.

And if you were hoping for hops, you’re in luck. After your wine flight, walk up a few flights of steps to find yourself at Beavers Bend Brewery for a flight of some of the best beers Southeastern Oklahoma has to offer.

Free Museums? Yes, Please.

Dinosaur fossils for the low price of $0.00? Enough said. But the good times and horizon broadening doesn’t stop at the Museum of the Red River, where you’ll find dino bones and cultural exhibits that define the region.

You can also come into the state park to the Forest Heritage Center to learn more about the history of Beavers Bend and what makes this place so special. (Did we mention it’s also free?) You can find wood carvings, artifacts, historical documents, and dioramas and displays created by Smokey Bear artist Henry Rossoll.

Getting Here Won’t Break the Bank

It won’t take much more than a tank of gas and a cabin rental to see everything that Beavers Bend Cabin Country has to offer.
