Need to get away with your girls? Let’s be honest: of course you do! Whether you want to rough it in nature or feel more like glamping, here’s your guide to the ultimate girls’ weekend in Beavers Bend.
Customize your cabin
Don’t feel like grocery shopping? Arrange for a pre-stocked kitchen (even an onsite cook, caterer, or grilling service, if you want!) and firewood, to boot. And with fun add-ons like in-cabin spa and massage services, you can enjoy the great outdoors while relaxing on your cabin porch. If there’s a more serene scene out there, we sure haven’t seen it.
Dress it to the nines
If you’re really feeling festive, be sure to deck out your cabin appropriately. From bachelorette parties to high school reunions, here are some of our favorite ways to decorate your cabin for a girls’ weekend.
Make it a movie night
Sleepovers of yesteryear had at least one thing right: they knew that movie night was absolutely essential! Channel your nostalgic side with a movie night on the big screen with these chick flick classics. Don’t forget the snacks—these are some of our favorites.
Get your game face on
Keep the nostalgia train rolling with these classic sleepover party games. Divide up into teams and see who takes the cake. Winner gets to choose the wine bottle!
Saddle up
For a fun taste of the great outdoors, book a horseback-riding excursion for the group. Local outfitters will provide everything you need for a smooth ride with a great view of the mountains.
Shop ’til you drop
No girls’ trip would be complete without a little window-shopping. Let the ladies at Sara Hensley and Co be your personal shopper for the day, where boutique finds shine at small town prices (the plus-size section is an answer to our prayers, too!). Want to shop for shoes? The ladies at historic Sherman’s Shoes will get you set up with a new pair—and maybe a Pandora jewelry set, too.
Keep your glass half full
Keep your evening open for a night at Girls Gone Wine. Their gift shop is filled with rooms upon rooms of gotta-have-it goodies—or as co-owner Chandra Rickey puts it, “absolutely everything you want, and nothing you need.” They even offer custom winemaking classes for groups and parties. Bottle your own blend, design the label, and pick it back up on your next visit, or have them mail it to you!
Plan a wine tour. Want to keep the wine tasting rolling? Visit these other local wineries for a complete tour of Beavers Bend’s own little wine country. Want to commemorate the weekend? Give these custom cabin wine glasses a shot!
Stop by the soda fountain
For an afternoon snack, check out Sherrill’s Pharmacy. This old-timey soda fountain is celebrating its 100th year in business, and you’ll be glad to know that not much has changed over the years. Get a triple scoop sundae (two spoons) and spend some time gabbing with your girlfriends.
Go antiquing
Feel like hunting for hidden treasure? Surprises hide around every corner at Antiques Etc. Spend an afternoon browsing classic toys, old records, collectors items, and antiques for every taste. Or head to Mostly Memories, where owner Jeannie Gross can turn an old chicken coop into a dining room cabinet, and farmhouse junk into refurbished, shabby chic gold. Be sure to check out their new antique soda fountain! Insider tip: it’s cash or check only here, so leave the credit cards at home.
S’mores and stars
They don’t call the cabins of Beavers Bend million-star resorts for nothing. When it comes to taking in the great outdoors, there’s nothing quite like counting the stars with a gooey cabin treat in hand.Use your fire pit to roast your mallows juuuuust right, then put down a blanket and have dessert under the twinkling skies. You’re bound to spot more than a few constellations!
Cook over the fire
Want more campfire recipes? Keep the fire pit full and try out these classics!
Hot-tubbing
Nothing says relaxation like a bubbly dip in the hot tub. Set yours to warm when you arrive, and the jets and bubbles will be ready for you and your girls by dinnertime. Don’t forget the champs!
Spring for a splurge
If you’re splurging for the weekend, expect to find a luxurious, towering two-story ready to welcome you and friends to your new weekend abode. Survey the digs and stake out the room of your choice. PRO TIP: there’s nothing quite like waking up to natural light peeking through the tall pines of Beavers Bend. Choose an east-facing room for a natural dose of morning joy.
Now that you’ve got your weekend all planned out, time to find a date! Plan your next bachelorette party, high school reunion, family getaway, or church retreat in McCurtain, or set aside to a weekend to celebrate absolutely nothing. You deserve it!
