Mix Up Your Holiday Plans in Beavers Bend

It’s the most wonderful time of year…to get away from it all. Good thing Beavers Bend is ready to welcome you home for the holidays.

The best way to beat the holiday hubbub is acres of cedar trees and decked out cabins. So trade the to-do lists for cozy soaks in the hot tub, and the obligatory office parties for endless s’mores around the fire. The only hustle and bustle you’ll need to handle this year is deer looking for their morning corn.

To get you in the spirit, here are just a few of our favorite reasons to get festive in Beavers Bend, Oklahoma.

Santa-Sized Cabins

With cabins this big, “the more the merrier” means something. Tucked away in the pines are over 3,000 luxury cabins, ranging from cozy cottages to merry mansions for up to 40. Really putting the extended in extended family? Scoop up a few close together so you can enjoy the stocked game rooms and eggnog-fueled campfire carols as one big family. Many cabin owners even decorate for the holidays, so you can leave the trees in the forest. This is one tradition the kids won’t mind passing down.

Kitchens Fit for a King

All that extra space applies to Christmas dinner too. Many cabins feature massive chef’s kitchens, complete with everything you need to whip up Grandma’s cheese log and Mom’s famous stuffing. Plus, sprawling dining tables with a seat for every elf. If you’re feeling inspired by the wild, you can even hunt for your table’s turkey. Or if you’re taking it easy this year, there’s always catering a home-cooked meal from a local restaurant. Soul food, award-winning BBQ, and gourmet pizza are a few options. Just be sure to call ahead of your trip to skip the stress — most local restaurants are not open on holidays.

Peaceful Nature

Sky high pines. Sparkling streams. Woodland creatures. A holiday stay in Beavers Bend comes with a built-in winter wonderland. So take some time to slow down. Get away from the noise with some fly fishing on the Lower Mountain Fork River. Find a pocket of peace on a hike through Beavers Bend State Park. Then, warm up with a cup of Christmas cheer in your cabin’s bubbling hot tub. Several spas even offer in-cabin facials and hot stone massages to melt away the stress of the season.

Endless Ways to Fill Your Sleigh

If your gift list needs a finishing touch, one-of-a-kind is what you’ll find here. The Gallery in Idabel features a variety of local paintings, sculptures, and more. Hochatown’s unique boutiques and souvenir shops are also a favorite go-to. Depending when you’re in town, festive holiday markets are the perfect way to grab those last minute stocking stuffers too (we see you, Bigfoot ornaments).

Merry Fitness

New year’s resolutions don’t have to wait. Hiking trails, mountain bike excursions, and fly fishing trips are great ways to burn off those extra Christmas cookies. No need to worry about the cold. Southeastern Oklahoma winters are typically moderate, and temperatures rarely dip below freezing. For more offbeat ways to get the blood pumping, there’s also ziplining, axe throwing, and roller skating, oh my.

However you celebrate, this is one stop Santa will be thrilled to make this year. All you have to do is #GetHereAlready.

COVID-19 UPDATE

As a county, we’re continuing to do our part to help keep people healthy. From social distancing and keeping cabins squeaky clean to setting up hand-washing stations and offering To-Go services – the efforts to help you still get the most out of your time here, while being smart are going strong.

  • Don’t travel if you’re sick or have been around someone who has been.
  • Wash, wash, wash those hands. Soap. Water. 20 seconds. Get creative with a song choice. Follow it up with some alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Cover that cough. Cover that sneeze. Preferably with a tissue, then throw it away.
  • Keep it clean. From frequently touched objects to surfaces, be sure to clean and disinfect.
  • Put distance between yourself and other people. Something we’re all good at out here in nature.

As always, stay healthy.
