3 Reasons to Spend Thanksgiving in Beavers Bend Cabin Country

Turkey time has arrived in Beavers Bend Cabin Country, and there’s no better place to feast with family this Thanksgiving than a cabin in southeast Oklahoma.

Whether you’re hosting a big family dinner or you two turkeys just want to make the most of your days off, Beavers Bend Cabin Country has a cabin just for you. So load up the car and bring those stretchy pants. Here are three reasons Thanksgiving in Beavers Bend Cabin Country just makes sense.

Thousands of Cozy Cabins

No need to get the house ready for company. Take your pick of over 3,000 cabin rentals that are happy to host the Thanksgiving festivities.

Cabin rentals in southeast Oklahoma come with all the amenities to keep the whole crew comfy. We’re talking hot tubs, game rooms, cushy living rooms, and in the really big cabins, enough beds for up to 25 guests. Of course, the centerpiece of any good Thanksgiving dinner is the kitchen. Cabin Country kitchens are stocked with modern appliances and plenty of cookware, so all you need to bring is the ingredients and Grandma’s stuffing recipe.

Once you’re nice and full, your cabin’s your oyster for some quality together time. Pick your favorite pooch at the National Dog Show out on the porch, complete with a roaring fireplace and hot apple cider. Wrangle up the cousins for some pigskin out back after watching the game, then top it all off with a rowdy night of board games and campfire s’mores. Or, just sneak away for a nice, long turkey nap in your king-sized bed.

Gourmet Turkey & Treats

Everyone knows the best part of Thanksgiving is the food. But if you don’t feel like roasting the turkey and mashing the potatoes yourself, give the kitchen the day off. Along with grocery stores like Pruett’s and markets like Local 259, you’ll find a cornucopia of restaurants offering ready-to-eat feasts in Broken Bow, Hochatown, and Idabel.

Word to the wise: if you’re planning to cater your Thanksgiving, call before your trip. Pre-orders are very limited and reservations can fill up fast for buffets.

Catered Options

Phat Tabb’s BBQ
Head to this meat mecca for whole turkey breasts, smoked bone-in cherry ham, and Tabb’s famous brisket, served with homemade cajun red beans, smoked gouda macaroni and cheese, and so much more.

Mountain Man Meat Market Along with prime steaks for your cabin’s grill, Chef Phil and the gang are serving up ready-to-slice turkeys, hams, and piping hot trays of dressing. Bonus: you can stock up on specialty pickles and jellies for the charcuterie board and local beer and wine.

Rock Bottom Boyz BBQ
Bring a little BBQ flavor to Thanksgiving dinner with Rock Bottom Boyz’s turkey, brisket, ham and famous smoked potato salad. But make sure to leave some room for the green beans, mac and cheese, and peach cobbler too.

Dine-In Options

The Lookout Kitchen
If you want a one-of-a-kind Turkey Day, The Lookout Kitchen is your place. It’s the only restaurant in Beavers Bend State Park, and their Thanksgiving Buffet gets you good eats and even better views. Fill up your plate with fresh carved turkey, prime rib, and favorite sides like glazed baby carrots, green bean casserole, and cranberry sauce. Oh, and 14 — count ‘em — 14 dessert selections.

The buffet is open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day with reservations only, so be sure to call ahead or email reservations@thelookoutkitchen.com.

Hochatown Saloon
For a little bit of karaoke and a lotta bit of homestyle cookin’, dust off your cowboy boots and head to Hochatown Saloon for turkey, chicken quarters, ham, and fixins like red skin mashed potatoes and garlic cheddar biscuits. The buffet’s open for business from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., with karaoke going strong until midnight.

Gasquatch
Don’t let the gas pumps and 30-foot sasquatch fool you. They know their way around a kitchen at this Idabel must-stop. Head in for a plate of ham, turkey, cornbread dressing, cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole, green beans, rolls, and pie — all for $12.99. And be sure to check out the muscle car museum and array of Bigfoot souvenirs while you’re there.

Post-Feast Activities

Once you’re done with dinner, get out and see Beavers Bend Cabin Country in all her autumn glory. From burning off that extra helping with a hike through Beavers Bend State Park or holiday shopping at some of Broken Bow’s boutiques, there’s fun for everyone in Cabin Country.

If you feel the call of the wild, the Ouachita National Forest is the answer. Deer and waterfowl are in season for hunting and the Lower Mountain River is stocked year-round with rainbow and brown trout for fly fishing. You could also rent a Jeep and explore over 33 miles of ATV trails or schedule a tee time at Cedar Creek Golf Course.

Not so outdoorsy? There’s always bowling at Gutter Chaos, hurling some hatchets at Bigfoot Axe Throwing, or getting in some culture at the Museum of the Red River. You could even settle in for the latest blockbuster at McCurtain Cinema if Jiffy Pop in the cabin won’t cut it.
